12 Ways to Safeguard Your Teen

How do we help our teenagers navigate a beautiful, complicated, and sometimes wild world?

Join us Sunday, November 15 from 5:00–7:00 pm for a special Youth Friendsgiving and parenting workshop with AUMC member, author, and parenting expert Cecil Taylor.

We’ll begin the evening around the table with a Friendsgiving meal. Bring a dish or drink to share that tells a little something about you: a favorite family recipe, a food you love, or something that represents your culture or tradition.

After dinner, our youth will head off for games while parents and other adults gather with Cecil for “12 Ways to Safeguard Your Teen.” Drawing on 30 years of experience in youth ministry and insights from his book Unison Parenting, Cecil will offer practical tools for helping teens navigate outside influences and difficult decisions while strengthening the relationship between parents and their children. The conversation will include tangible approaches for building trust, establishing healthy guardrails, and creating the kind of connection that helps teens feel comfortable talking with you.
