You’re invited to gather on Wednesday, January 22, from 6:30–8:00 PM for an evening of conversation, learning, and community as we discuss Brown Church: Five Centuries of Latina/o Social Justice, Theology, and Identity by Robert Chao Romero. We’ll meet at Spin Pizza on Campbell Road near US-75 to share a meal and meaningful dialogue together.
This thoughtful and accessible book explores the rich history of Chicano/a culture, theology, and social justice—from the era of Spanish colonialism through modern Mexico and into the present day. Together, we’ll reflect on how faith, identity, and justice have shaped what Romero calls the “Brown Church,” and how these stories can deepen and broaden our own understanding of Christian witness today.
Whether you’ve already read the book or are simply curious to learn more, all are welcome. Come hungry, come curious, and come ready to listen and learn alongside others in our community.
