The Arapaho Kids Ministry is a joyful and welcoming space where children grow in faith, explore big questions, and discover the love of God through play, learning, and community. But it takes a village—and we’d love for you to be part of it!

Whether you have a passion for storytelling, a gift for organizing, a heart for little ones, or simply a few hours to share, there’s a place for you in our ministry. We have opportunities that fit every schedule and season of life—from weekly Sunday School leadership to one-time help at community events.

ARAPAHO KIDS MINISTRY VOLUNTEER NEEDS

SUNDAY SCHOOL LEADERS

9:45-10:45 am Large Groups: There are two groups that meet during this time. The two leaders in each room (Prek-Kindergarten or 1st Grade – 5th Grade) help lead in playtime, crafts, games, and discussion. You can sign up to do monthly rotations, even if you need a season off for other responsibilities. You can also schedule a day with Jessica, Children’s Sunday Coordinator, to shadow a teacher and get a better idea of the classroom time.

11:00 am-12:00 pm Small Groups: There are three groups that meet during this time. The two leaders in each room (Prek-Kindergarten, 1st – 2nd Grade, 3rd-5th Grade) co-lead in the Bible lesson by following a curriculum with step-by-step instructions. If it is your week to co-lead, you will receive the lesson two days beforehand to read over. All the materials needed will be supplied and ready in your classrooms. You can sign up to do monthly rotations, even if you need a season off for other responsibilities. You can also schedule a day with Jessica, Children’s Sunday Coordinator, to shadow a teacher and get a better idea of the classroom time.

Become a back-up leader for when our regulars need time off and our schedule has holes that need to be filled. 

PREPARE ACTIVITY BAGS

Once a week before Sunday, Activity Bags set out in the lobby for children to utilize in the service need to be cleaned out and restocked with worksheets, coloring pages, pencils, fidget toys, and ministry information. All materials will be provided by the Children’s Sunday Coordinator. You can sign up to do this every other week (our Spares and Pairs help on the other weeks).

SUNDAY MORNING GREETERS

Two Shift Options: 9:45-10:00 am or 10:45-11:00 am:
Stand by the kiosk in the lobby or by the East Offices to help greet families, hand out information about the Children’s Ministry, or get them set up in the check-in Kiosk. Training will be provided for the kiosks. 

NURSERY AND TODDLER ROOM HELPERS

Two shift options: 9:45-10:45 am or 11:00 am - 12:00 pm:
Assist the Childcare Staff in playing with children, snack time, reading, clean up, consoling upset children, rocking tired babies, and making sure everyone has a safe playing environment. You can sign up weekly, monthly, or every other month.

COMMUNITY EVENTS

  • Multiple times throughout the year, the Children’s Ministry team hosts church and community events: Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Palm Sunday Easter Egg Hunt, Summer Vacation Bible School, Fall Picnic, Trunk or Treat, and the Christmas Eve Family Service. We always need help with planning, organizing, preparation, donations of resources and time, and more. Rebecca, the Children’s Program Director, will provide you with all the details for the event in which you help.
