What happens between an idea for change and a bill actually becoming law?

Join us for the next gathering of The Art of Democracy on Sunday, November 1, as we take a practical look at how legislation moves through the process. We’ll follow the life of a bill in eight steps, from how a bill is formed and filed to what it takes for it to ultimately become law. We’ll also walk through a real-world case study to see how the process works in practice.

With Election Day approaching, we’ll finish by looking ahead at some of the issues that could lead to new legislation being filed following the November 5 election. Whether you closely follow the legislative process or have always wondered how it actually works, this conversation will offer an accessible way to better understand how ideas move through government.

We’ll gather in Room 40 immediately following worship, with the discussion beginning at 12:30 pm and lasting approximately one hour.

Want to stay for lunch? We’ll order one for you and save you a place at the table for $12.

Come learn, ask questions, and deepen your understanding of how the legislative process works.
