Hard Conversations Series

  • Arapaho United Methodist Church 1400 West Arapaho Road Richardson, TX, 75080 United States (map)

How does racism contribute to and perpetuate homelessness? The impact of race on homelessness has resulted in an overrepresentation of people of color in the unhoused population. A history of racial discrimination, including current-day policies and practices across various systems, continues to create disparate impacts along racial lines. You are invited to a discussion about the importance of centering racial equity in our response to homelessness.

We sponsor the Hard Conversations quarterly to help educate and bring awareness to the many aspects of homelessness. In this Hard Conversation, we’ll hear from educator, researcher, and human rights activist Dr. Earl J. Edwards, along with Joli Angel Robinson, and Rebecca Hickom.

We will meet in Room 3 at noon on January 19. You are welcome to bring your lunch to this in-person only event. We’re looking forward to learning together as we seek to understand and address homelessness and racial equity in our community.
