Have you ever wished you could connect more easily with your immigrant neighbors—but weren’t sure where to start? On December 1, from 6:30-8:00 pm, come be a part of an evening of learning and inspiration as we explore how Arapaho UMC can partner with La Mirada and the Richardson Adult Literacy Center to launch an ESL (English as a Second Language) program in our community.
You’ll hear from Nancie DeCourcey, a longtime ESL volunteer, who will share practical insights from her years of experience, and from Kenton Self, who took on the challenge of learning Spanish as an adult to better communicate with others. Together, we’ll discuss the needs of the La Mirada community and what it will take to make this partnership thrive—including opportunities to serve, such as helping with transportation for participants.
If you have a heart for hospitality, teaching, or simply building bridges across language and culture, this session is for you. Come discover how you can be part of this meaningful new ministry.
