Faith in Action: Civic Engagement Training with Texas Impact
Democracy does not preserve itself. It requires people who are willing to show up, learn, organize, and act.
This summer, Arapaho UMC invites you to participate in an exciting opportunity sponsored by Texas Impact. In partnership with a diverse network of interfaith leaders from across North Texas, Texas Impact is offering a half-day civic engagement training designed for people who are ready to move from concern to action.
Whether you are new to advocacy or already involved in community organizing, this training will provide practical tools, inspiration, and connections to help you engage faithfully and effectively in the public square.
Participants will hear from keynote speakers, take part in hands-on workshops, and engage in grassroots strategy sessions focused on legislative advocacy, community organizing, and leadership development. You will leave not only inspired, but equipped with concrete next steps.
Participants will gain:
Practical advocacy skills for engaging the Texas legislative process
Connections with faith-rooted civic leaders from across North Texas
Frameworks for turning values and convictions into meaningful civic action
The same program will be offered on two different dates and locations:
Friday, August 1 - Begins at 9:30 am
First United Methodist Church, Denton
Saturday, August 2 - Begins at 1:00 pm
Temple Shalom, Dallas
Lunch is included with registration (for August 1 event)
Scholarships are available for those for whom cost may be a barrier. Please contact staff@texasimpact.org for information about financial assistance.
Arapaho UMC members will be attending both events. If you would like to join one of the groups or learn more, please contact Laura Churchill or Pastor Cathy.
The world is shaped by those who show up. Will you?
