Ash Wednesday At AUMC

  • Arapaho United Methodist Church 1400 West Arapaho Road Richardson, TX, 75080 United States (map)

The Arapaho United Methodist Church community warmly welcomes you to embark on the Lenten journey on Wednesday, February 14. The Sanctuary will be open for prayer and contemplative space beginning at 4:30 pm. One of AUMC’s pastors will be on hand to impose ashes. Then at 6:30 pm, you are invited to an Ash Wednesday service. The Ash Wednesday worship service will provide an opportunity for attendees to participate in meaningful readings, uplifting songs and the chance to receive ashes - a symbol of the start of Lent.

Lent is a 40-day period leading up to Easter, during which many Christians observe a time of spiritual reflection and growth. This is achieved through practices such as fasting, which involves reducing or abstaining from certain foods or activities, repentance, which involves acknowledging and asking for forgiveness, moderation, which involves avoiding excessive behaviors, and spiritual discipline, which includes prayer and meditation.

It is important to note that this service will be held in-person only service, offering those who attend the chance to connect with their faith community and engage in meaningful worship and reflection. Whether you are new to Lent or a seasoned observer, this Ash Wednesday service promises to be a powerful and uplifting start to this season of spiritual growth and renewal.
