Sungmoon (on the right) is from Seoul, Korea and raised by a Methodist pastor and an elementary school teacher. Sungmoon graduated from Methodist Theological University (MTU) in Seoul, Korea. During his time at MTU, Sungmoon served children, youth, and young adult ministries at several churches in Korea. He worked as a founding member of Chrysalis (Young adult version of Walk to Emmaus) in Seoul. His two-year mandatory military service drew him to complete a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education at E-hwa Woman’s University Medical Center in 2012.

Coming to Dallas in 2013, Sungmoon studied at Perkins School of Theology for his Master of Divinity degree. In DFW area, Sungmoon served youth ministry at Immanuel Korean UMC and worked as a Residential Community Chaplain at SMU. He lived in Bonhoeffer House, an intentional Christian community to serve the homeless and the homesick in the neighborhood for three years. Sungmoon pursues ordination as an Elder in the United Methodist Church. He loves coffee, music, taking pictures, and trying new things.

Sungmoon is married to Jinhee Park, who is a professional artist.
